Caja Rural-Seguros RGA is a team that makes their presence known in every event they race – always looking for opportunities to attack, always in the breaks fighting for stage wins. Established in 1992 in the junior and amateur categories, Caja Rural promotes the sport of cycling to the next generation and supports clean racing. This Spanish team fostered the development of riders such as Aitor González and Mikel Nieve before turning Continental in 2010 and Pro Continental in 2011.
Racing on Oval Concepts wheels and cockpits, the team’s greatest achievements include: Omar Fraile’s 2015 overall Vuelta a Espana Mountains Classification, two consecutive victories by Carlos Barbero and Eduard Prades at the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, Pello Bilbao’s General Classification’s win at the Tour of Beauce, Jose Concalves Tour of Turkey’s overall title, Hugh Carthy’s 2016 Vuelta a Asturias GC win and his Best Young Rider classification at the 2016 Volta a Cataluña.
Their roster is largely comprised of climbers who excel in stage races and mountain stages in particular, but the team has added riders for 2016 to bolster their versatility specifically in one-day races and the classics.
