2010-06-07 - Three from three

Just a 'quicky' to let you all know that I have just won Hawaii 70.3 for the second year in a row. That makes it three from three for this year (IM Malaysia, China 70.3, Hawaii 70.3)-  I am hoping that it is a good sign for the remainder of the season.

I really love this race- it is always super tough but a lot of fun. The atmosphere is always amazing and it is the perfect opportunity for me to polish my skills on the course for the big one in October.

This year it was extremely windy on the bike and the swim was really choppy but the run was much kinder as the heat was not as harsh as last year's race. I won by about 6 minutes from local darling and fellow K-Swiss athlete Bree Wee. It was great to see Bree have such a strong race on home turf. It was also great to see Matty Lieto, also of K-Swiss, take the last podium position in the men's race.

I had a solid swim, even though I thought I was swimming poorly, and by about the 5 mile mark of the bike I took the lead and never looked back. I am really happy with my run which was over 3 minutes faster than last year.

Now it is back to the 'hard yakka' in my build  for Challenge Roth. I will stay here on Kona for the next 4 weeks to prepare for this race. This preparation will include running the Kona marathon at the end of the month. The beauty of this marathon is that it is almost identical to the IM run so again- great practice for me for come October.

Thanks for your continued support and I am looking forward to catching up with you all at the races.
